Madelyn's favorite possession is her binky and blanky. They are absolutely necessary when she goes to bed. About 2 months ago I put Madelyn in her bed and told her it was time for "nie-nie". She looked at me and said, "Momma go nie-nie?" I told her that I was going to go "nie-nie" too. She then looked at me, took out her binky, offered it to me, and said, "Momma Binky too?" It was really touching that this little toddler was willing to give me her prized possession so that I could go "nie-nie". What a sweetheart!
A few months ago the power went out in the building. It happened during Madelyn's nap and, unfortunately, reset Madelyn's sound machine. We normally have it on rain, but it reset to birds. It woke Madelyn up. I could hear her from the other room saying, "Burns, Burns... where are you?... Burns? Burns?" It was really, really adorable!
Madelyn has attended every single one of my OBGYN appointments. I think that it has made her increasingly more aware that there is a baby in my tummy. The other day Madelyn and I were snuggled up on the couch watching Curious George. She looked up and me and said, "baby?" I lifted my shirt up and showed her my belly, "the baby is in here, Maddy." Madelyn, completely unsolicited, gave my belly a kiss. It was really sweet. Now she does it all of the time. I love her!
