Happy Birthday to Me!

Yesterday was my 26th birthday! I think I see the crows feet already! ;) I had been taking care of sick kids all day. So, Dan & I decided to have friends over for cake, he sent this email...

"Hi everyone, Today is Heidi's birthday. We are going to have a small celebration in her honor at 7pm. Please be advised that our kids have been sick lately so come at your own risk ;) We completely understand if you choose not to come but we hope to see you tonight! Best, Dan"

Then, Dan got a reply email from Alicia saying that she was throwing me a surprise party at 7:50. Of course, Dan didn't tell me anything, so 7pm came and went with no-one showing up to our house... 7:30... 7:45...

I looked at Dan and said... "I guess no-one is coming, I kind-of expected it"
Dan feigning shock: "you expected no-one to come to your party?"
Me: "well, our kids are really sick and it was such short notice."

It was Dan's job to get me to go over to the Galbraiths house at 7:50, so he said;

"Wasn't Alicia coming over? Why don't you go ask her if she is coming."
Me: "I am not going to go over and ask why my friend isn't here, that is a pretty lame thing to do!"

So I put Laila to bed and headed into the computer room to check some emails. Time passed and Dan didn't know how to get me over there. Then I heard a knock at our door, Christopher came in and started "school-talk" with Dan. They talked about a presentation that Chris had attended. Dan asked if it had been recorded and Chris thought it might have been so he walked back over to ask Alicia. He came back a few minutes later and said that he had the link, they walked into the computer room and Chris called out to me:

"Leesh wants to show you a SYTYCD you-tube video"
Me: "Isn't she putting Sheldon to bed?
Chris: "Not anymore. She was sitting at the computer when I left."

I grabbed my phone and walked over there. I was checking my emails when I walked into their house...

"SURPRISE!"

It. Was. Awesome.
