Say What?!

I love when a misunderstanding results in a hilarious situation. Let me set the scene...

Dan and I went to a classmate's dinner party on Sunday evening. The classmate's name happens to be Laila. As we entered the house, Laila's husband was in the kitchen and Laila began showing the guests into the living room. I placed baby Laila in the hall and entered the kitchen. This is where it gets funny...

Mohammed: "Hi, how are you?"

Heidi: "Great, thanks for having us over!"

Mohammed: "No problem"

Heidi: "Is there any way that we could put Laila in a quiet, dark room where she won't be disturbed so that she can fall asleep?"

Mohammed: "um..."

Apparently, Mohammed thought that I was talking about his wife. I didn't pick up on this for about 25 seconds, so we sat there awkwardly, both trying to decide how to respond. Finally, I realized that he must have thought that I meant his wife.

Heidi: "Oh! no, not your wife. I have a baby named Laila too. She is in her carseat in the hall!"

At that point everyone cracked up. You could see the relief in his face, he was totally caught off guard and had no idea how to respond to a weirdo who wanted to put his wife in a dark room all by herself! It was honestly the funniest misunderstanding I have had in a long time.

That is really funny!! We have friends with a little girl named Audrey, and I find that I either respond when they're not talking to me, or I ignore them when they are!!
